VOTE NOT FIGHT, HAJIYA MULIKAT ALIYU AKA’ABA

VOTE NOT FIGHT, VOTE NOT FIGHT, HAJIYA MULIKAT ALIYU AKA’ABA; THE AWAITING CHAIRPERSON, AJAOKUTA LG ENLIGHTENED THE PEOPLE OF AJAOKUTA._*

_Indeed, when you have the right people at the helms of the affairs, the people rejoice._

HAJIYA MULIKAT ALIYU AKA’ABA

The awaiting Chairperson of Ajaokuta LG, Hajiya Mulikat Aliyu Aka’aba has taken her time to advocate for peace and enlighten the people of Ajaokuta LG on the need to *_VOTE & NOT FIGHT_* during the LG Council Election scheduled to hold December 12 2020.

In her statement _”Peaceful and credible elections are essential for democracy to thrive. When elections are peaceful, free and fair, it can help facilitate a smooth transfer of power from one administration to another and confer legitimacy on elected officials”_

The wife of the awaiting Chairman *(Hon. Prince Mustapha Aliyu Aka’aba)* noted that, despite the importance of Election as a means of choosing the Leaders that will represent us , the process of electing leaders in Nigeria has been plagued by a myriad of problems ranging from voter intimidation and suppression, to harassment and outright violence etc.

These acts which many Nigerians believe are sponsored by the political class have denied citizens of their rights to participate in governance in a way that benefits them and society, directly or through chosen representatives. Marginalized groups like youth, women and people with disabilities are impacted the most.
Narrowing it down to our LG, the role of Ajaokuta youth in election-related violence has been particularly dynamic, in that they have been perpetrators and victims at the same time. Due to eroding societal values and poverty in the past, they are easy recruits for attacks on political opponents.

With the launch of the *“Vote Not Fight; Election No Be War”* campaign championed by the awaiting Chairperson and the awareness raised around the dangers of election violence, Ajaokuta youths are urged and expected to take the lead in changing the narrative, setting the pace and begin to speak against this menace in successive elections.

The ambassador of Peace *Hajiya Mulikat Aliyu Aka’aba* further said, _”this process of election affords a moral certainty that the office of Ajaokuta LG Chairman will seldom fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications. Voting is the expression of our commitment and fundamental human right to ourselves and one another, and our political leaders will know our priorities only if we tell them, again and again through out votes, that is, if those priorities begin to show up in the polls”_

My good people of Ajaokuta, with such a learned tigress, and versatility of knowledge as our Chairperson, Ajaokuta is indeed, in a safe Hand.

*Hon. Prince Mustapha Aliyu Aka’aba & Hon. Salamat Magadalene Salami* remains our collective resolution.
